Pan Seared Tuna Steaks with Lime Pepper Crust Recipe

Ingredients

  • 24 oz. Tuna steaks
  • 2 tsp. Olive oil
  • 2 tsp. Thyme leaves
  • 1 tsp. Ground black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp. Salt
  • 1 Lime zest

Method

  1. Clean the tuna steaks with cold water and dry by patting them with paper towels.
  2. Grate the lime, then squeeze the lime and keep the juice.
  3. Combine the lime zest, thyme, salt and pepper in a small bowl.
  4. Brush the tuna steaks on both sides with olive oil.
  5. Roll the steaks through the mixture, coating well.
  6. Heat a little olive oil in a large skillet over a medium heat.
  7. Drop in the tuna steaks and sear them on both sides until they turn golden brown.
  8. Lift out of the skillet onto preheated serving plates.
  9. Pour the reserved lime juice over the tuna steaks and garnish with lime wedges.
