New Orleans Creole Style Shrimp Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 lb. Shrimp
- 2 cups Tomatoes
- 2 cups Okra (diced)
- 2 cups Water
- 1 cup Celery (chopped)
- 4 tbl. Butter
- 2 tbl. Flour
- 2 Onions (chopped)
- 1 Garlic clove (crushed)
- 1 tsp. Salt
- 1/8 tsp. Pepper
- 1 Bay leaf
Method
- Take a pan over a steady heat.
- Add the butter and flour.
- Then add the chopped onions, pepper and celery.
- Once browned, add the shrimp, tabasco, tomatoes, okra, garlic and the bay leaf.
- Then pour in the water.
- Bring the mixture to the boil.
- Reduce heat, cover and simmer for about an hour.
- Prepare rice while shrimp is cooking.
- Place rice on a serving dish along with shrimp.
