Hong Kong Style Honey Walnut Prawns Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 lb. Prawns (peeled / deveined)
- 1 cup Water
- 1 cup Cooking oil
- 2/3 cup Glutinous rice flour
- 2/3 cup White sugar
- 1/2 cup Walnuts (chopped)
- 1/4 cup Mayonnaise
- 2 tbl. Honey
- 1 tbl. Condensed milk
- 4 Egg whites
Method
- Take a small saucepan and pour in the water and sugar.
- Bring to the boil and then add the chopped walnuts.
- Boil the mixture for about 2 minutes, then drain the liquid off and place the walnuts onto a cookie sheet.
- In a mxing bowl, whip the egg whites until fluffy.
- Now fold in the flour gently to keep the air in.
- Heat a little cooking oil in a skillet over a medium / high heat.
- Dip the prawns in the batter, covering them completely.
- Now sauté them until golden brown.
- Drain off any excess fat onto paper towels.
- Take a mixing bowl and combine the mayonnaise, condensed milk and honey.
- Arrange the prawns on a serving plate and drizzle generously with the mixture.
- Then garnish with walnuts over the top before serving.
