Canarian Meatballs Recipe

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs. Lean ground beef
  • 1 1/2 cups Breadcrumbs
  • 1 cup Water
  • 1/2 cup Dry white wine
  • 4 tbl. Olive oil
  • 1 tsp. Salt
  • 1/2 tsp. Oregano (dried)
  • 1/2 tsp. Thyme (dried)
  • 1/4t sp. Pepper
  • 1/8 tsp. Nutmeg
  • 4 Garlic cloves (crushed)
  • 1 Onion (chopped)
  • 1 Carrot (chopped)
  • 1 Red pepper (chopped)
  • 3 Eggs

Method

  1. Heat some olive oil in a hot skillet.
  2. Add the onion, carrot, red pepper, garlic, oregano, thyme, pepper, nutmeg and bay leaf.
  3. Stir and cook through.
  4. Remove the bay leaf and pour into a food processor.
  5. Combine the ground beef, salt, oregano and eggs in a mixing bowl.
  6. Roll into meatballs and coat in flour.
  7. Add the meatballs to a skillet and brown.
  8. Now add the sauce, water and wine while stirring.
  9. Bring to the boil, then reduce heat and simmer for about 15 minutes.
  10. Serve the meatballs covered in the sauce.
